Wine For Life is a business that is dedicated to bringing online retail consumers the best bargains possible. In particular, our aim is to supply great value wines from all parts of Australia and New Zealand at great prices, particularly iconic wines that you can’t get through the normal retail channels. We also believe in strong dialogue with our customers in order to provide the best service possible.
Prominent amongst the wines that we offer are those that were acquired by investors in Heritage Fine Wines Pty Ltd (receiver and manager appointed)(liquidator appointed). Many of these wines (prominently of red varieties) have been cellared for years under ideal conditions and represent excellent buys compared to the current vintage offerings of many wine producers at similar price points in retail stores.
Further, unlike some other sites we allow purchasers to acquire mixed cases. Rather then risk purchasing a case of wine that you may not like, at Wine For Life we allow purchasers to pick a mixed case to sample what we have on offer. In doing so we allow you to "dip your toe in the water" before making a large purchase of a wine that you may or may not like.
Our hope is to provide the quality wine that you cannot get anywhere else at very affordable prices. We welcome any feedback that allows us to achieve that aim.

A. Wine For Life is part of a group of companies owned by a prominent Newcastle businessman with interests in a number of businesses including beverage distribution and retail, printing, property and corporate services. Our Head Office, naturally, is in Newcastle and we have other locations in Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Upper Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale, South Australia.
A. Wine for Life provides an online retail space for the sellers of wine. Wine For Life is separately licensed so those that sell their wines dont need to be. The majority of the wines currently listed are Heritage wines. We hope that over time we will be able to provide offerings from a more diverse range of wine owners and wineries. The advantage of listing wines for sale on our site is that it avoids the restrictions involved in listing wines with retail outlets or the uncertainty as to price when wines are sold at auction.
A. Heritage Wines are owned by investors who use Wine Investment Services to store their portfolios and Wine For Life to sell their collections. They include many wines that you won’t see in bottle shops or are just hard to get. Many of these wines were made by some of the country’s leading winemakers. We also have one of the largest collections of Grange you’ll see and most vintages are very attractively priced.
A. A particular wine, let’s say 2002 Fox Gordon 8 Uncles Shiraz, might be owned by 30 investors. Ten investors might nominate wine for sale at a price of their choosing. We list their wine at the price they nominate regardless of how different it may be from other prices. So if it’s way too expensive nobody wants it and if it’s very cheap it will sell quickly. We don’t influence the price at all but recommend to investors a selling strategy based on the market conditions prevailing.
A. As much as there is. An investor might nominate 70 bottles at $8 per bottle. When it’s gone, it’s gone and the next lowest price is up for grabs. Sometimes very rare wines like Grange might only be available in 1 or 2 bottles. Also, an investor might nominate the same wine again at the cheaper price. We have no way of knowing. It’s up to the investor.
A. We know. Unfortunately, there might be several sales on a wine just when you put your order in and they beat you to the punch. This happens on the ultra-bargain wines from time to time. Also, an investor might remove their wine from sale just prior to you ordering it. It’s a total pain, I know, but we are working on better ways to reduce this lag and cause less frustration.
A. With Heritage, the problem is in picking the wine. It’s not just piled up in a warehouse and you load a truck up with it…actually it is, but much more complex. You might order a case of wine by picking 12 different wines that take your fancy. Choice is great for you but complex for us as your wine might come from 12 different investors and each bottle is in a different location in the warehouse or even a different warehouse in a different town! So your carton needs to be assembled in one location and shipped to you. This takes time. We ask that you allow a delivery time of 7 to 14 days. However, for many orders, we will dispatch the order within 24 hours of receipt.
A. We ship to most places in Australia except dry zones. Freight is charged at $13.20 (inc GST) per dozen Australia Wide.
A. Don’t worry, we will refund your money to you credit card ASAP.
A. Let us know ASAP and we’ll deal with it. It happens occasionally. Generally we’ve got breakages down to miniscule amounts now but it is glass after all.
A. There still could be. Let us know what you want. The volume of wine listed for sale is generally only a small fraction of wine held in storage. If we can get an investor to release more then we can supply it. There are also wines listed that just say “Available”. That means we aren’t expecting to run out at all.
A. 1. Its fun to do. 2. It makes you think more about the wine you just bought and improves your wine skill. 3. It lets others know you liked it or hated it and why. Peer reviewing is far more powerful than reviews from elite aficionados. Just because a famous wine writer rates a wine doesn’t mean you have to like it. Especially if 50 others are saying they hate it.
